Our Values
Divine Truth
The Word of God (the Bible) is Christianity's authoritative charter. Therefore, the Scriptures — read, preached, prayed, and spoken — sustain and guide the faith and practice of Living Hope Presbyterian. We seek to connect the Word of God to all of life, as the Bible provides the original blueprint for what it means to be truly human, individually and collectively. It is also the primary means by which we commune with the living God in weekly worship and daily devotion.
Sacred Dialogue
We commune with God through prayer. Prayer is essential to intimacy with God, to power in worship, and to vitality and endurance in service to the church and the world. God invites us to speak with Him as our heavenly Father, and in so doing, we become more truly and fully who and what He designed us to be. Living Hope Presbyterian is committed to the regular practice of individual and corporate prayer, asking that God's will would be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Integrity
Christians are called to live out what we believe, to reflect Christlike character in our public and private lives, to be faithful, honest, humble, diligent, and loving in all circumstances and settings. Our leaders and members are accountable to God and one another for living according to His revealed will and Word.
Hospitality
Belonging is a fundamental human need. God made us primarily for loving fellowship with Him and His people. Living Hope Presbyterian is devoted to fostering a warm, welcoming community that regularly extends hospitality to believers, seekers, and doubters alike.
Gospel Conversations
The gospel of Jesus Christ is a message of hope. It promises that Jesus forgives all our sins, restores our relationship with God, progressively renews our true humanity, and will ultimately rescue us from our worst fears and satisfy our deepest desires. It is the best possible news — news that God has commissioned the church to joyfully share with the world. Sharing the story of Jesus with gentleness and respect is the primary outward assignment of Living Hope Presbyterian.
Cultural Renewal
The renewing, restorative power of the gospel extends to people, places, and institutions. The gospel changes people. Changed people, in turn, change culture — family, business, media, art, education, government, sport, fashion, farming, and more — for the glory of God and the good of their neighbors, especially the marginalized. We are called to join God in restoring what is broken in our communities. With compassion and courage, Living Hope Presbyterian will give, serve, and advocate for mercy and renewal in our community.
Burden-Bearing
To love one another well in a broken world requires bearing one another's burdens. Life is hard. Christ calls His people to come alongside brothers and sisters in Christ who are suffering, offering a loving presence, words of hope, listening ears, and practical aid. Living Hope Presbyterian strives to be a place where it is safe to share struggles with sin, hurt, addiction, physical pain, or economic distress, and where holistic, compassionate, Christ-centered care is available.
